AG Neovo displays helping dentists provide better treatment and patient education.

At a Glance - More Technology Fewer Tears
Long gone are the days of the dreaded dental appointment. Medical equipment in the field of dentistry has advanced rapidly removing the traditional anxiety associated with the dentist. Today, instead of a sharp, metal tool scraping its way across a patient's teeth, dentists use low-energy lasers to get early indications of decay. New materials such as high-strength ceramics is custom shaped for a crown right in the office by sophisticated computer programmes.

Other advances in dental health care such as digital photography, digital X-rays, intra-oral cameras integrated with AG Neovo medical displays, are changing the face of modern dentistry. By their ability to create, display and store dental images, computer networks and displays provide the backbone of complete office integration in dentistry. Dentists can easily share patient information with lab technicians, specialists, and insurance companies. Information and images are also available to colleagues throughout the dental clinic and satellite offices or even at the dentist's home residence during late night emergencies.

The Environment - Dentistry in the Digital Age
Using a camera about the size of a pen, dentists can take pictures inside the mouth and immediately display the images. This technology allows the patient to see exactly what the dentist sees. The dentist merely points out problem areas on the display while the patient is sitting in the chair.

One Southern Californian dentist, Dr. Stephen Carter, says, "Displays are huge in my relationship with patients. They get a better understanding of the situation once they can see it on the display mounted right on the chair. My patients definitely feel more comfortable and relaxed about treatments."

Mark Messina, a dentist from Fairview Park, near Cleveland, and consumer adviser to the American Dental Association, said dentistry has made great inroads in providing better consumer service. "We are finding that children do not have the fear that their parents may have. Children are not afraid to come to the dentist at all."

Something as simple as giving a remote control to a patient can dramatically enhance the patient's sense of control. "More and more, we are seeing movies and TV shows even video games in treatment rooms," he said.
